This is a busy week for the tasting room. After Thanksgiving, you have a busy three days. By the time Sunday comes you will, more than likely, be exhausted.

A couple of small things to remember when you are presenting and selling wine to your customers:

° Keep Smiling: Your smile muscles should hurt as much as your feet and legs do.

1. Be polite, even if the customers are frustrated with having to wait, or annoyed by the number of people in the winery.

2. Have one or two employees mingle with the customers to ask them if they would like a sip of wine while waiting.

3. Ask a couple of quick questions: why they are visiting and was there a particular wine that they had in mind.

4. If you recognize the customers as regular visitors to the winery give them a special welcome and tell them you are glad to see them again.

      a. If your customers have to wait to be served apologize for the wait and part of your job is to make their wait worthwhile.

° The Thanksgiving weekend is always going to be busy so be ready for it.

•Comfortable shoes are your greatest asset as you are likely to be on your feet all day.

•Make sure you are smiling.

•Keep an eye on the room.

•Look for the regular customers and smile and nod to them if you can.

Remember that if you smile muscles aren’t hurting at the end of the day you have not been smiling enough.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a great sales weekend!

A tip of the glass from me to you!
