Are You Getting Enough Customers?

How many visitors come into your winery each month and in total how many people do you see each year?

I am sure that most of you know how many people you see each month and each year. If you don’t know, it is time to start keeping track.

Are the number of visitors that you are seeing increasing from year to year or staying the same?

If the numbers are staying the same, you may want to look at the advertising and promotional avenues that you are using as well as how you are promoting your winery to would-be visitors.

When first-time visitors come into the winery or approach the tasting bar, be sure that you are smiling (no matter what kind of a day you may have had).

Immediately welcome them to the winery and introduce yourself and give them time to introduce themselves to you.

It may be helpful to ask some questions to discover what encouraged your visitors to come to the winery and why your regular visitors keep coming back. Think about three to five questions to get the general information that you want from your customers. Don’t ask too many questions and allow them to ask you questions as well.

If this is their first time in your winery you may ask:

  • What was it that made them stop for a visit?
  • Had they already heard about the wines and or events?
  • Were they recommended by anyone?
  • Find out who recommended your guests, so you may thank the person who sent them to you.

Most importantly, let your visitors know that they are important to you and to the winery. There are many things you can do that will make your visitors feel welcome and want to return.

A tip of the glass from me to you!
